The Source of Victim-less Crimes

Ayn Rand was was soooooooo right when she stated:

“There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.”

Ayn Rand

If this quote is too abstract and you don’t quite get where she is aiming, think: Drug Laws, Traffic Laws, Tax Laws, Prostitution, Dog Fighting, Lying to the Police, Aiding fugitive slaves, Bigotry, etc.

  1. Someone from the city came to my house the other day, knocked on my door, no one answered but my dog barked through a window. I was cited because he wasn’t sure if my dog had her vaccinations, was registered, is fixed, and has a micro chip. Now its up to me to prove to the city that I am not in violation of any of these or pay a $25 fine for each of them.

    • That is sick. You have turned into an ATM for the state. The premise of Private Property, espoused by Moses, is the primary indicator of a free society. Your experience then is not indicative of a free society, but rather a police state. Sad. And even sadder that most people would just tell you to shut up and pay the fine, not understanding the philosophical ramifications of the state’s prerogative to fine the citizenry. Sorry to hear this.
